DSA Amplifiers

DSA Amplifiers

Crystal-clear, breathtaking, seat-shaking cinema sound is the result of the DCA Series Digital Cinema Amplifiers. Five 2-channel and two 4- channel models offer power points from 200 to 1700 watts per channel in a two rack, 21 pound amplifier. With QSC's exclusive PowerLight® switching technology.

PowerLight cuts wasted heat and boosts reliability. PowerLight is a switching power supply that provides ample current to the audio power circuitry by charging the supply rails 230,000 times a second through an ultra-low impedance circuit, so the audio signal is never starved prematurely, but remains crisp and clean. It virtually eliminates hum and greatly reduces noise, providing a vast dynamic range that can handle the most demanding digital soundtracks without running out of headroom. DCA Series amps also boast a set of useful features such as individually selectable clip limiters and subsonic filters; and stereo, parallel, and bridged mono operation.

Features:

  • Active Inrush Limiting - won't blow circuit breakers at turn-on (a QSC cinema exclusive!)
  • Both speaker and monitor panel outputs (a QSC cinema exclusive!)
  • Exclusive PowerLight power supply for great bass (a QSC cinema exclusive!)
  • A hum-free noise floor and ultra low distortion
  • Optional crossover modules for bi-amp, tri-amp and subwoofer applications
  • Only 3.5 inches high
  • DataPort interface for signal processing accessories and the DCM - Digital Cinema Monitor (a QSC cinema exclusive!)
  • Patented Output Averaging™ short circuit protection
  • 14" deep - works with standard depth racks for lower cost and less floor space

  • Gain control security cover protects amp from misadjustment
  • Variable-speed fan cooling and back-to-front air flow
  • Neutrik Speakon® and safety-shrouded barrier strip output connectors
  • LED indicators for metering, status, and operating mode (a QSC cinema exclusive!)

DCM Monitor

DCM Monitor

DCM 10 | DCM 10D | DCM 30 | DCM 30D

QSC's Digital Cinema Monitors provide signal processing and monitor functions in a single integrated system. Designed to be used with QSC's Digital Cinema Amplifiers (DCAs), DCMs optimise loudspeaker performance while simplifying cinema sound system wiring and configuration. The DCM 10, DCM 10D, DCM 30 and DCM 30D cover cinema systems ranging from three to five screen channels, and are configurable for bi-amp, tri-amp or quad-amp operation. DCMs are also compatible with all cinema processor formats including Dolby Digital Surround-EX and DTS-ES.

Digital Signal Processing

The DCM's digital signal processing capability outperforms traditional analogue crossovers for optimised speaker performance. Crossover frequency, parametric equalization, polarity and gain can be precisely adjusted for each speaker in your system. Digital delays, adjustable in 20 μs increments, assure proper acoustical time-alignment of loudspeaker drivers for smooth frequency response, especially critical in three-way and four-way systems. An active emergency bypass crossover with redundant power supply is also included for fail-safe operation.

Installation

DCMs greatly simplify system wiring and set-up, significantly reducing installation time and labor cost. Input to the DCM is provided via a standard DB-25 cable from the cinema processor. Connections to DCA amplifiers for input and monitor signals are made through a single QSC DataPort/VGA-style cable.

DCMs also simplify set-up by using a menu-driven, PC-based software program for configuration. The program includes a speaker data file that lists default parameters for popular cinema speaker models. Commonly used configurations can also be saved on a disk, allowing you to quickly load them on other DCMs.

Advanced Monitor Functions

In addition to audio monitoring of amplifier inputs and outputs, DCMs include QSC's exclusive "load fault" detection. DCMs monitor all amplifier outputs and indicate opens and shorts in the speaker system and wiring via LED "load fault" indicators, providing confirmation that all amplifier outputs are functioning properly.

Features:

  • Real-time software control via USB
  • Bi-amp, tri-amp and quad-amp configuration
  • Analogue inputs or AES/EBU (D models)
  • User defined auxiliary outputs
  • Provides Monitor and Crossover functions in one box
  • Digital Signal Processing for State-of-the-art sound quality (high dynamic range)
  • Fast system set up time (especially in mega-plexes with similar rooms)
  • Simple connections with QSC DataPort connectivity. Only one cable per amplifier needed (contains two signal inputs, two signal returns, power on/standby control and two channels of load monitoring)
  • Exclusive "Load Fault" detection indicates speaker system or wiring faults
  • Simple crossover adjustments via PC with password control for tamper proof system adjustments
  • Lower system cost than existing quad-amp solutions
  • Compatible with all current sound formats; 3-5 screen channels, 5.1 - 7.1
  • 3 year warranty plus optional 3 year extended service contract

Basis

BASIS

QSControl.net, QSC's next generation network audio system, achieves the seamless integration of the company's control, processing, and monitoring technologies. QSControl.net brings together QSC's digital, power amplification and loudspeaker products into a unified system that enables the user to administrate it all via a fully integrated graphical user interface. The new generation BASIS devices are designed to operate under the company's QSControl.net platform.

BASIS

The BASIS platform meets the control, monitoring and processing needs of amplification and loudspeaker systems over an Ethernet network. The BASIS 722az units combine two distinct QSC technologies within a single hardware unit. Amplifier and loudspeaker control, monitoring and protection, and configurable DSP are seamlessly integrated into one powerful single RU package.

Through QSControl.net, QSC's BASIS and next-generation RAVE and DSP products can be networked together and controlled from a single software interface. In addition, multiple networked computers can be set up to control and monitor all of the units simultaneously.

Fixed Latency DSP

Users of most other configurable DSP systems are familiar with a variable latency inherent in the processing configuration. Add more processing blocks and you also add delay, whether you want it or not. QSC's DSP engine is unique in having a short and fixed processing latency through the DSP subsystem. When the A/D and D/A converters are included, the total analogue-to-analogue latency of a single unit is a negligible 2.354 milliseconds. QSC's fixed latency DSP is configurable DSP that stays fast and predictable from one configuration to the next.
